The Horse belongs to the Earthly Branch wǔ, and its hours are from eleven in the morning to one in the afternoon. In the myth of the Jade Emperor’s party, the Horse ended up in seventh despite its speed. The reason for this was that it got held up when it came upon a cemetery, and it was too frightened to go by it. This caused it to stall for a period of time until it worked up the courage, and when it finally went ahead it did so with its eyes tightly shut. Horses are highly valued, and they even are worshipped by some communities in the northern parts of China, including Mongolians. Throughout China, the Horse is known for being fast and free. The most recent years of the Horse were 2014 and 2002, and the next is 2026.
Personality and characteristics
Horses have great athletic ability, and their speed and energy are intense, not just physically but also mentally. As a result, they expect a lot from others, and they can be disappointed when people around them cannot keep up with their pace. This may be why they require their own space, which is in line with their free spirited nature, and they don’t let their dreams remain dreams, but instead are always going after them. They value being happy in their lives over being successful and renowned. Their optimism attracts people, but it can be hard to deal with how Horses get upset so easily, only to act like nothing has happened after, and they often are completely unaware of what their issues are.
compatibility
Horses get along great with Sheep, as Sheep can take care of themselves and won’t lean too much on Horses. Horses also get on well with Tigers, who don’t slack off in their relationships with Horses, which is appreciated. Dogs and Horses have a great bond and it is one that will last. Rats have poor compatibility with horses, and trying to force a relationship between them can end badly. Oxen also are not a good match for Horses, as they simply do not understand each other. The independence of Horses means that they often do not get along well with other Horses.
health
The energetic nature of horses makes it difficult to get proper rest, and their sleeping schedules can be erratic. This is not good for their health both in the short term and long term. They can go days without sleeping to get work done, and their immune systems will be compromised and their intellectual sharpness will be diminished. They should try to get more consistent rest, and they also should not let their fast paced nature cause them to neglect taking care of their health, or they could have heart, liver, or kidney issues down the line.
career
Horses are great workers, as long as they do not have jobs that are very repetitive. They do well as journalists as well as translators, as they get to utilize their fast paced wits and flexibility, which also makes them great sales people. The ever changing nature of these jobs appeals to them, and they could not enjoy a job that is the same every single day. Horses like to grow and evolve, and their job should change with them to keep things exciting. They are good in leadership roles as they like to charge ahead.
